PAIA Manual
Information about how to request access to records held by Map My Future under the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (Act 2 of 2000) (“PAIA”).
1. About This Manual
The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 gives effect to the constitutional right of access to information held by the state and to information held by private bodies that is required for the exercise or protection of any right. This manual sets out how to make such a request to Map My Future, the records we hold, and the contact details of the person who handles requests.
This manual is published in compliance with section 51 of PAIA and should be read together with our Privacy Policy and POPIA Notice.

4. Records Held by Map My Future
Map My Future holds the following broad categories of records, subject to the exemptions and refusals permitted under Chapter 4 of PAIA:
- User profile records — account details, assessment responses, generated results and match outputs of individual users
- Payment records — transaction references, amounts and dates for Pro tier purchases (no card details are stored)
- System logs — access logs, error logs and security event logs
- Business records — company registration documents, tax records, contracts with operators, internal policies and procedures
- Correspondence — emails and support communications with users, operators and authorities
Records may be subject to mandatory protection of privacy (section 63 of PAIA), commercial information (section 64), confidential information of a third party, or other PAIA grounds for refusal.
5. How to Request Access
To request access to a record held by Map My Future, email the Information Officer at support@mapmyfuture.co.za with the subject line “PAIA Request”. We will respond with the prescribed request form (Form 2, GG No 26825 of 15 October 2004, as amended) and guidance on the process and any applicable fees.
A complete PAIA request should include:
- Sufficient detail to identify the record(s) you are requesting
- The form of access required (copy, transcript, inspection, etc.)
- Your contact details for our response
- If you are requesting on behalf of another person, proof of authority
- If you are requesting access to exercise or protect a right, an explanation of that right and how the requested record relates to it
We will respond to a formally submitted PAIA request within 30 days, as required by section 56 of PAIA, subject to any extension permitted under the Act.
6. Information Regulator
If your request is refused or you are dissatisfied with how it has been handled, you have a right of complaint and, where applicable, internal appeal under PAIA. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa), which oversees both PAIA and POPIA:
